It all depends on how active a fly fisher person you are once a year ,once a month, or more. The more you go the more you will learn and the more productive you will be . If production is what you are after , actually for me there is a lot more to fly fishing than catching fish. Although I love to catch fish, I also love the time spent outside and all it has to offer any season of the year. Things like cleaning ice out of your guides because it is so cold or casting in the wind when you thought it was impossible to fish at all. Trying to figure out what the fish are feeding on or where they are even at. Fishing early in the morning, late at night , or in the heat of mid day things like this make for interesting even exciting time on the water . Then through in using a new fly you tied or rod you built or new equipment you just purchased. Spending time with people whom you enjoy being with, or fishing with someone you don't know well sometimes just getting out by yourself it all works . Fly fishing can be a life long adventure or just something fun to do it will fit any schedule. So when is the best time to go fly fishing every chance you get . If you are going to hold off for the perfect day you won't get out much . Make fly fishing interesting get out and enjoy all nature has to offer I know I will be out there hope to see you.
